Advanced Weapons Elevators

In 2005 FEC was awarded a contract from Northrop Grumman to design and build the Advanced Weapons Elevators (AWE) for the CVN 78 Aircraft Carrier.  The contract consists of manufacturing (11) Elevators for the USS Gerald Ford, which is scheduled for delivery in 2017. The state-of-the-art Elevators increases capacity over 200% to 24,000 pounds and speed 50% to 150 ft/min compared to the legacy elevators. 

Functional testing of the AWE Lead Unit led FEC to build a test facility at its River Road building.  The 40’ structure can house an AWE system capable of 32’ of travel. Full production is currently underway with final delivery slated for 2012.
